Louisiana’s Favorite Christmas Cookie Has Classic Southern Ingredient
'Tis the season for cookies!
Don't you love this time of year? Family, the Christmas spirit and endless amounts of cookies paired with hot coffee. I'm such a happy and content little camper around this time of year. And recently I got to thinking, which holiday cookie doe we love the most at Christmastime. There are so many options out there besides sugar and chocolate chip cookies.
I found a list on The Spruce Eats of the 50 States of Christmas Cookies.
For Louisiana, it's Buttery Vanilla Tea Cakes. I don't know about you, but those are some of my favorite words in the English language and someone has now put them all in one cookie. The secret ingredient to these cookies is buttermilk which gives them a delightful tang. You can dip these in colored sugar or frost them and decorate to your liking. I haven't had them before, but I assume that these are similar to a sandy shortbread that just melts in your mouth.
What kind of Christmas cookie is your favorite?
