It's the eighth threat to a school in our parish from a student since the start of the fall semester. According to a media release, detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office were notified today about a threat from a student at Barbe High School in Lake Charles.

Detectives learned on Sunday night that a 16-year-old boy posted a video to social media. The boy made a comment about Barbe High School while waving an airsoft gun. After being interviewed, he was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with terrorizing.

The Calcasieu Parish Superintendent of Schools and Sheriff's Office will continue to communicate and have stated that there will be zero-tolerance for threats regarding any school in Calcasieu Parish. Every threat will be investigated and arrests will be made when warranted, said the media release.

“If you have not done so already, please talk to your children and explain the seriousness of making threats,” urges Sheriff Mancuso. “This is no joking matter and students need to know they will be arrested if they make threats toward a school.”
