Richard Lewis Springthorpe was born in Guildford, New South Wales, Australia on August 23, 1949. Rick was 13 when he learned the guitar and started getting his feet wet in the music scene. Springfield moved to the USA in mid-1972 and was signed to Capital Records in 1973. And the rest is history.
