Novelty songs about Christmas have been around as long as I can remember. Back in the 40s, it was the Spike Jones Band and "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" and later it was "The Chipmunk Song" from David Saville and the Chipmunks. Both songs were very successful "novelty" Christmas songs and, at least one of them, "the Chipmunk Song" get played over and over every year.

Some Christmas novelty songs pretty much just appear on the scene and disappear a couple of years later. Still, other members of that holiday music family stick around for decades.

We decided to find out which Christmas novelty songs you still like and believe me there was no doubt as to who won that poll the minute we looked at the results. "The Chipmunk Song" came in a pale second to Cheech and Chong's classic "Santa and His Old Lady." There were no shades of grey in this poll. It was a landslide. In case you need your annual dose of Cheech and Chong's stoned take a Christmas, here it is. Play it for the kids and Grandchildren. Tell them it pretty much explains the 60s!
