Big Upset in Our Christmas Music Poll !
I've been conducting Christmas music polls for years. Every time I have conducted such a poll in this area, "Please Come Home for Christmas" has topped the polls by a landslide. When I posted this year's poll, I really expected for that perennial hit to be at the the top of the poll again, but I had a surprise waiting for me when I checked the numbers.
Instead of Charles Brown topping the polls, everybody's favorite fair and festival band, Vince Vance and the Valiants had topped the chart with, "All I Want for Christmas is You". The song has been a Christmas favorite ever since it's initial release back in 1989. The vocalist on the record is Lisa Layne. Lisa has not been with the group for many years.
The big surprise was that "Please Come Home for Christmas" has been pushed to second place by a fairly healthy margin. As I mentioned at the top of the article, that song has topped these annual polls every year for as far back as I can remember. "White Christmas" tied that former poll winner for the second favorite song on out poll.
Some of the other songs that people named as their favorite Christmas song include,
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Andy Williams
Night Before Christmas, Temptations
Happy Christmas - John Lennon
Christmas Canon ...Trans Siberian Orchestra
Thanks for taking part in our poll! We'll start our annual "All Christmas til Christmas" this Wednesday at 6 p.m. The first song out will be our winner, "All I Want for Christmas is You."
Tune us in for the greatest Christmas hits of all time!
