Why Do Round Pizzas Come In A Square Box?
Order a pizza from any of your favorite pizza delivery brands or go into any grocery store to pick up a boxed frozen pizza, and it will come in a square box. Why? Pizzas are round.
Pizzas are one of the most popular and relatively inexpensive foods found around the world. For those of you who don't know this about pizza, pizza is ranked as the topmost addictive food you can consume. Because of the cheese, salt, fats and proteins in a pizza, your brain can get hooked the same way someone could get hooked on drugs. Pizza stimulates the bran in the same way. But why does this round brain-altering food come in a square box?
Firstly, it's easier and cheaper to make a square box. A square pizza box can be made from a single sheet of cardboard.
Secondly, square boxes are easier to store than round boxes. Round boxes would have to be shipped and stored already built.
Thirdly, the tops of round pizza boxes would have to be hinged in one or two places. That would make round pizza boxes much more unstable than square pizza boxes.
And last but not least, square pizza boxes allow for extra space, making it easier to get a slice of pizza out of the box. That extra space is also a good spot for seasonings and/or dipping sauce.
So the next time you order a pizza or buy one at your favorite grocer, don't overthink the box. Just enjoy what's in it!
