A Sulphur woman is charged with cruelty to a juvenile following an altercation with her 12-year-old daughter, after deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office were called out to a home in Sulphur on Thursday, October 31, at about 6:40pm.

According to a CPSO media release from Kim Myers, the victim told deputies her mother, Monica L. Juarez, 34, Sulphur, "hit her in the forehead with her fist during an argument". The victim had a visible raised knot on her head, and when detectives spoke with Juarez she told them there was a verbal argument that turned into a physical altercation between her and the 12-year-old victim and that she also pulled the girls hair during said altercation.

Juarez was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with cruelty to a juvenile. She was released the following day on a $1,500 bond.
