Rediscover SWLA During National Tourism Week
It's National Tourism Week and it's a great chance to learn about why this area accounts for $400 million dollars a year in tourism. I sometimes wonder how many folks living in SWLA have ever seen most of the opportunities we have for fun.
I guess we're kind of fortunate here at 92.9 The Lake in that we have three new employees who all come from other parts of the country and, as they discover new places, they share their enthusiasm for everything we pretty much take for granted.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau wants us all to appreciate what we have here and this week they have events planned so even natives can learn more about SWLA.
What a great opportunity for us to reacquaint ourselves with SWLA and maybe introduce us to new things to do and see.
The CVB will celebrate the week with the following events:
- Celebration Fun Day at Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point:10 a.m.– 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at Adventure Point, 2740 Ruth St., Sulphur. There will be photo opportunities with baby alligators and Gumbeaux Gator, face painting, snacks and bottled water and trail mix for those who explore the Creole Nature Trail.
- Top 20 Restaurant voting contest: To let visitors know the best places to eat, the CVB is hosting a Top 20 Restaurant voting contest. Vote for your favorite restaurant by clicking HERE. Deadline to vote is midnight, May 6. Results will be posted next week.
