Overnight Shooting In Jennings Claims A Life

The Jennings Police responded to a shooting last night around 9pm.  Upon arrival to West Street they encountered two individuals with gunshot wounds.  One of the persons, shot in the chest, later succumbed to the injury and passed away.  The condition of the other person shot is currently unknown although we do know he has been sent to the trauma center at a local hospital.

Police have stated they do have a person of interest in custody.  They're expected to release more information on the incident later today, but they did say they believe this incident was related to a drug deal gone bad.  The forthcoming statement will likely include the name of the deceased person and the name of the person in custody.

With this being an active investigation, more details will be released after the crime scene has been processed and witnesses have been interviewed.
