
Louisiana Man Gets 35-Year Sentence For Attempted Murder Of A Police Officer
(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - A Louisiana man was given a 35-year jail sentence for attacking a Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff's Deputy and attempting to take his patrol car after the deputy stopped to assist him.
Doris Maricle of the American Press is reporting that Mark Gabriel Buller Jr., 45, entered a no contest plea to attempted first-degree murder of Deputy Joshua Clement and was sentenced to 35 years in prison without the possibility of parole, probation, or sentence suspension this Monday in the 31st Judicial District Court.

Buller was wandering on La. 99, just north of Welsh, in bad weather and in a dimly lit area when Deputy Clement pulled over to help him. Following a physical fight, Buller tried to take the deputy's police car and used his taser against him. The deputy fired his sidearm, but Buller was unharmed.
Butler was charged and sentenced with:
- Aggravated battery - 10 years
- Attempted theft of a motor vehicle - 10 years
- Attempted possession of a firearm by a convicted felony - 7.5 year
- Disarming a police officer - 5 years
- Resisting an officer with force or violence - 3 years
- Attempted disarming of a police officer - 2.5 years
All sentences will run concurrently.

Jeff Davis District Attorney Laure Heinen said of the sentence:

She also stated that the courtroom was crowded with numerous law enforcement officials displaying their support for Clement, illustrating the camaraderie throughout the law enforcement community.
