According to the press release from State Police Troop D a preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle operated by 25-year-old Zachery David Manuel of Lake Charles was traveling east on LA 3256 and began to pass three vehicles that were also traveling east on LA 3256.  The lead vehicle, a 2005 Hyundai Sonata driven by 37-year-old Belinda D. Chapman of Lake Charles, was turning left into a private driveway.  The motorcycle then struck the driver’s side of the Hyundai causing Manuel to be ejected from the motorcycle.
Manuel, who was wearing an approved helmet, was transported to an area hospital where he died from his wounds. Toxicology reports are being obtained on both drivers. Excessive speed is considered to be a factor in the accident.
