There's one thing sacred in Louisiana that everyone agrees shouldn't be defiled...gumbo. I mean come on, we put the "holy trinity" in it. One restaurant in Alabama found out the hard way.

We all know what a proper Cajun gumbo should look like. The perfect gumbo will have a dark brown roux, sausage, chicken, or your favorite seafood, onions, bell peppers, and celery served over rice. Other acceptable additions are okra, garlic, bay leaves, file' seasoning, and green onions.

Creole cooking allows tomatoes to be added to gumbo, however, for argument's sake, this article refers to the Cajun style of cooking gumbo. Because nothing unites Louisianans stronger than a Cat 5 hurricane recovery effort, than a terrible gumbo photo on social media.

The Eldorado Steakhouse in Headland, Alabama learned this life lesson when a photo of their gumbo went viral on Facebook. In fact, it's so bad they took down the post from all the backlash.

Now don't get me wrong, I would try this.  It looks very tasty, especially with a few shakes of Tony Chachere's, but don't try to pass this off as gumbo. This looks more like a stew. It has peas, corn, and tomatoes in it along with other ingredients.

Well, they made the one mistake we discussed earlier that Louisiana residents will not and should not stand for. And immediately they started to feel the wrath of Cajun Nation in the comments section:

Then out of nowhere, the restaurant went on a counter offensive in the comments section:

It backfired and only made the Cajun Nation stronger in their resolve:

The moral of the story here kids, is never...I mean never, post a garbage picture of gumbo on social media. You don't want to be that guy or girl. If you really want to post your gumbo "masterpiece" make sure you share your photo first with some friends that live in the 337 area code of Louisiana to get the green light if it's accepted to be uploaded.
