Michael P. Ned lost his bid for the 14th Judicial District Court seat in the recent election and now he faces various charges stemming from a domestic disturbance.

Among the charges facing Ned are: domestic abuse battery, violation of a protective order and filing a false public record.

Ned turned himself in and was arrested in April in connection with a domestic disturbance on Sept. 27, 2013.

According to Kim Myers, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, the victim said Ned punched her in the face and knocked her out. A witness said Ned dragged the unconscious victim into the house and held a pillow to her face.

A protective order had been issued on Oct. 17, 2013, ordering Ned to stay away from the victim.

Ned has been indicted on one count of domestic abuse battery (strangulation), two counts of violation of a protective order and one count of filing a false public record
