Lake Charles And Sulphur Toying With Bike Share Program Idea
The cities of Lake Charles and Sulphur are looking into if bicycle-sharing stops will work in their respective cities like they have thrived in Metropolitan areas.
Monday, the Sulphur City council voted to allow Sulphur Mayor Mike Danahay to join neighboring Parish organizations in a joint case study on bicycle-sharing programs.
Brian Trahan of the American Press is reporting that the city of Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana are also involved in the case study.
New Orleans currently has a bicycle-sharing program with over 400 bikes in circulation around the crescent city.
Lake Charles has recently added bicycle lanes around town, so much of the ground work as already started.
