LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA: The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting severe thunderstorms in South Louisiana starting today and lasting until tomorrow.  We have all the details.

The NWS also says that a stronger cold front is coming down to South Louisiana this Saturday and will cause a more intense storm than we will see today and Wednesday.

The NWS in Lake Charles released an update on the in coming storm today on social media.

Gulf weather special Zack Fradella says we'll see a trio of storms in the next week that he's calling a "parade of storms".

Both Fradella and the NWS are saying that the storm this weekend will usher in much colder weather for South Louisiana.

Southwest Louisiana's Three Day Forecast:

  • This Afternoon: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 76. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3am. Patchy fog between 1am and 4am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 62. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Wednesday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Patchy fog between 7am and 9am. High near 77. South wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
