Fund Set Up To Help Keep St. Louis High School Downtown
Many parents and students were outraged to hear about the possibility that St. Louis High School would have to move to a different location after damage from Hurricanes Laura and Delta.
Project Build A Future has set up a fund SWLA residents can donate to through First Federal Bank to ensure the school stays at its current location on Bank Street. There is a minimum donation of $1,000 to support the fund. If the school ultimately decides to move, all donations will be fully refunded. They are also tax deductible since Project Build A Future is a non-profit organization.
Project Build A Future's executive director, Charla Blake, told the American Press the community should be given a chance to help the rebuild of the school at its current location. She went on to say St. Louis is a fixture of the historic district in Lake Charles and it would be sad to see it go.
Saint Louis High School released a statement saying they're always grateful for unconditional gifts and that any donations made will be automatically deducted from FEMA’s contribution, as these financial gifts are considered a duplication of benefits.
If you would like to donate, you can send money online here or donate in person at the law offices of Cox, Cox, Filo, Camel and Wilson, 723 Broad St. during normal business hours.
