CPSO To Increase Deputies On Road For ‘Click It Or Ticket’

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office "Click It or Ticket" campaign begins today and you will notice a larger presence of Deputies patrolling the roads of SWLA.

The 13 day program will run to June 3rd.  Among patrolling, the CPSO will set up increased checkpoints checking if drivers are wearing their seat belts.

The "Click It or Ticket" campaign is backed by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.

Not wearing a seat belt isn't smart, these stats are staggering!  48 percent of passengers that aren't wearing a seat belt are killed in crashes, but it gets worse, that number raises to 56 percent during the hours of 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.  [source: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration]
