In case you need something to celebrate this weekend, besides there being no hurricane, National Ice Cream Day is on Sunday, July 21st. Ronald Reagan's Presidential proclamation in 1984 insured that we don't need a reason to enjoy a delicious cold treat on a hot summer day in Louisiana!

I'm always on the look out for local or regional flavors for just about anything, and ice cream is no exception. Below are some of my suggestions for ice cream with a cajun twist. Some of them are around, and some of them need to be snapped up by someone who could make a fortune right here in the great state of Louisiana. And since we just found out this week that the incredible 'only in Louisiana' flavors of Hubigs pies are coming back, they might get a category all their own. Enjoy!
