3:43 PM 2/17 UPDATE 2: Due to rainy weather in the area, the McNeese-Stony Brook baseball game has been moved back an hour to 7 p.m.

5:00 AM 2/17 UPDATE: Due to the chance of rain this afternoon, game one between Rhode Island and Missouri State has been moved up to 11 AM this morning.

The McNeese nine yardmen start play Friday for 2017 by kicking off the 15th Annual Lake Area Classic at Joe Miller  Ballpark on Common Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana.

The six-game weekend classic features three teams with recent College World Series experience under their belts.

The 3-day round robin tournament gets under way at promptly 2PM with Missouri State vs. Rhode Island and the hometown heroes McNeese Cowboys take the diamond at 6 PM on what promises to be a beautiful Friday afternoon weather wise for baseball.

McNeese head coach Justin Hill gets 21 starters back from the 2016 squad including five starting position players and 11 pitchers.  For added excitement All-American Bryan King returns at the top of the rotation along with All-Southland Conference Collin Kober in the bullpen.
