Last night, during the Siberian Mardi Gras parade, Heather told me something I didn't know. She informed me that there are civic groups who send folks out to catch beads and donate them to the civic groups who, in turn, use them to raise funds . What a great idea.

When I got to the radio station this morning, I saw a post from KPLC about just one of those groups, so I thought I'd pass along the information.

This is from that KPLC post about the Southwest Autism Chapter:

Donate your Mardi Gras beads to help with their big fundraiser each year. Donated beads are sold back to Krewes for future parades. Call 855-2068 or email swautismchapter@gmail.com for information on drop-off locations or to volunteer packing bead bags. If you bring your beads to Chick-Fil-A between 3:00-5:00 you will get free cookies!

There are other non-profit groups that use those beads in the same way. If you have Mardi Gras beads, please consider using them for a great cause.
