The World Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-Off joins the long list of Louisiana festivals canceled because of COVID-19.

The World Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-Off is an annual event held in Euince. It's not only a cook-off, but a full day festival with food and music. The event first began in 1986 to help showcase the crawfish industry and local chefs.

This would've been the 36th year of the festival, but COVID. It usually attracts thousands of locals and visitors looking to experience Louisiana culture at its finest.

Francine Hughes of the Eunice Chamber of Commerce said even though Louisiana is currently in Phase 3, that would only allow 250 people to participate in and attend the cook-off. She said they have already begun to plan for 2022.

I've never been to this festival, but I can imagine it's a blast. My mouth is watering right now thinking of all the booths with crawfish etouffee waiting to be destroyed. It would be interesting to taste all the different ways people cook their etouffees. I'll have to bring my can of Tony's and my Crystal's hot sauce just in case they don't have any at the tables.
