Westlake, Louisiana To See Beginning Construction For The I-10 Bridge Project Next Week
(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - Westlake residents and travelers wanting to exit into Westlake from the I-10 bridge will have to navigate through new construction in preparation for the new I-10 bridge project.
Drivers will no longer be able to access I-10 Westbound immediately from Sampson Street in Westlake as early as next week. Traffic will be diverted via designated detours instead.

Although the detours may be irritating, yesterday at a Westlake City Council meeting, Westlake Mayor Hal McMillin pointed out that they are a part of a bigger project to replace a bridge that is an important conduit for Southwest Louisiana.
McMillin also expressed his pleasure over the new bridge that will allow drivers to cross the rails on their way into and out of Westlake, eliminating the need for them to wait for trains passing through the area.

The full replacement of the I-10 bridge is expected to be completed in 2031.
