Vote the Best King Cake in Southwest Louisiana [POLL, RATING]
It’s the season where we go nuts over everything gold, green, and purple. It’s officially the Mardi Gras season, and no crawfish boil would be complete without at least one delicious king cake. Of course whoever finds the plastic baby has to either host the next king cake party or foot the bill for the next cake, because it’s the law around here!
A king cake (sometimes shown as kingcake, kings' cake, king's cake, or three kings cake) is a type of cake associated in a number of countries with the festival of Epiphany at the end of the Christmas season; in other places, it is associated with the pre-Lenten celebrations of Mardi Gras/Carnival. - Wikipedia
One of my personal favorites comes straight out of the bakery of Market Basket #25, located on Ryan Street in Lake Charles. Yes, it’s true I worked for the family owned food store for a number of years, but trust me it isn’t personal. It’s kind of like the smoked boudin at their Country Club Road location, I just love the way it tastes!
