VA Clinic Open By August!
After years of chronic setbacks, delays and waiting the Veterans Administration local Lake Charles clinic will likely start seeing patients by August 28 this summer.
This week a ceremony was held with VA officials and veterans ‘signing a beam’ placing their names on the final steel I-beam to go into the building. Now that the frame is up further final construction can proceed.
For too many returning vets, PTSD is the new battlefield they're on. The mental health services the facility will offer are critical to veterans and their families. Those as well as other routine medical issues will prevent the need to drive to Houston, Alexandria and other VA locations.
The new facility won’t solve all access and medical issues but is a great step forward to facilitate care for our local veterans. Currently veterans are using an interim clinic on McNeese street in Lake Charles.
Cat Food Recall - J.M. Smucker Company has recalled 9-Lives, Ever-Pet and Special Kitty cat foods. Veterinarians say if your cat has eaten these brands and is listless and lethargic not to worry, that's normal.
