Millennium Park, located at 1100 Bord du Lac Dr., will close from Monday, April 15 through Thursday, April 18, for maintenance. The park will reopen to its normal hours of operation on Friday, April 19, 2019.

According to a City of Lake Charles media release, the park will get fresh coats of paint, landscaping, and more thanks to the volunteer efforts of the Alliance for Positive Growth and the Homebuilders Association of Southwest Louisiana.

“Millennium Park, built and then rebuilt by the hands of members of this community is shining example of what can happen with we all work together to invest in something incredible for our children,” said Mayor Nic Hunter. “Our parks are a critical component of quality of life in the City of Lake Charles and programs like these are a small part of a larger effort we are making across the city through our Partners in Parks initiative to expand opportunities for citizens of all ages to make their way outside and explore science and nature in their own backyard.”

Anyone interested in volunteering, individuals or groups, can gain more information by logging onto apgrowth.org to sign up for shifts.

"In addition to updating the interior of the park, an effort is underway to equip local artists with the supplies necessary to update the murals at the entrance of the park. Donations to this project can be made to the Millennium Park Fund at the Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana by visiting, www.foundationswla.org".
