Traveling north or south in Lake Charles has generally meant a trip on Ryan Street. Please take alternate routes today as city crews place barricades for this afternoon's Krew of Krewes Parade.
The downtown section of Ryan street has come to life over the last few years. More businesses have moved in and there pedestrian activity like the area has not seen in years. Restaurants and bars have joined the shops and made the area an entertainment hub for day time and evening hours. Now the entertainment moves to the street corners.
If you travel I-10 West to go to work downtown and take the Ryan Street exit ... you may want to plan a little extra time for your drive beginning Monday.

I'm no traffic engineer, but I know there's technology that senses the presence of a vehicle and tells that signal to change to allow that vehicle through the intersection when there's no traffic.
