Drinking and operating a 5,000 lb modern automobile are frowned upon, today even self-driving cars are having accidents left and right.

A recent press release states The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has received$153,155 in grant funding from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission to conduct additional traffic safety enforcement activities. This funding is for DUI safety checkpoints and other driver safety enforcement.

These DWI checkpoints are coming more often now. There is no argument that they make our roads safer. The goal of the program is to remove impaired drivers from the road before they hurt themselves or others. Here are the details on the one this weekend.
