Terrible news out of Arkansas as one child is dead and 40 other people are hurt -- many of them children -- after a bus carrying a youth football team crashed along I-30 overnight.

Three are dead after their helicopter went down in a remote area Tom Hebert Rd. and Helms Rd. north of Grand Lake, according to KPLC.  Currently, no official word on why the helicopter went down, though some media sources are reporting that a fire may have broken out on the craft.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m.:  Officials have since confirmed that 100 vehicles were involved in the crash, which was likely caused by mid-morning fog.  Two are dead and dozens are injured, according to KFDM-TV.  I-10 westbound is now open, but eastbound will continue to be closed for a while.

News sources are reporting that two Shreveport-area men were aboard the Chinook helicopter shot down this past weekend by Taliban insurgents.
