The entries composed not only a delectable treat to the eyes, but to the nose too as the air was filled with the aromas of gingerbread in the finest form. If you weren't at the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention Visitors Bureau's Welcome Center on Saturday, we can never describe the air inside, but we do have a photo of the Best of Show.

With entries that scaled from the children's division through adult and professional, it was pastry chef, Joseph Agustin's, entry of the Calcasieu Parish Courthouse complete with Christmas trees in the front yard and garland around the columns all the way to the copper-topped dome that won Best of Show.

You Can Go By and See Them Through December

Now that you're imagining the aroma and the sights, the good news is all the entrants are on display at the bureau through the end of the month. It's a relaxing way to take a break from shopping or I-10 traffic.

The Lake Charles CVB is right on the lake and I-10 at 1205 N. Lakeshore Drive, Lake Charles, La. Coming from Texas, it's the very first exit coming down the I-10 bridge. From the east, take the exit for Steamboat Bills and circle around under the bridge to the bureau on the lake.
