It just goes to show you that you don't even have to work in Hollywood anymore to win an Oscar. A Shreveport man took home a little golden statuette last night after creating an animated short in his home studio.

Shreveport resident William Joyce was the writer and co-director of "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore," and he won an Academy Award in the Best Animated Short category last night. Joyce has previously worked on such films as "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium," "Robots," and "Meet the Robinsons" according to his IMDB page.

He co-directed the film with Brandon Oldenburg. According to Joyce's bio, he studied film at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and writes children's books.
