Lake Charles certainly seems to love running. I live in the downtown area, and it's a rare weekend that I don't encounter runners of some sort or other each Saturday morning. Well, the folks at Walnut Grove Development and Bishop Nolan Episcopal Day School have teamed up for an event that will include a 5K for serious runners, and a fun run just for kids and less serious runners.

If you're one of the many folks in Lake Charles who love running, here's a cool little event for you. The Walnut Grove 5K is an opportunity to get your run in, and help out Bishop Nolan Episcopal Day School's Eagle Fund.

The "Nutty Fun Bubble Race" gets underway tomorrow (Saturday) at 8 a.m. Runners and their supporters will meet up at Walnut Grove at 1575 Sallier. That one location marks the start and finish to the race. In addition to the 5K run, there will also be all kinds of activities for the kids.

The 5K race entry fee is $20 per person, and the entry fee for the Nutty Fun Bubble run for kids ages 2 and up is only $15. If you want to really add to the fun, you can run as a family of 4 or more for only $100.

Awards will be given out for Top male and Top Female in various age groups.
