Results from Saturday’s Seatbelt & DWI Checkpoint

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office conducted a combination DWI and seatbelt checkpoint on Saturday, November 30, in an continued effort to combat impaired driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics, and also to catch vehicle occupants not wearing their seatbelts.

The location, which is never announced until after the checkpoint is concluded, took place in the 1600 block of Swisco Road in Sulphur.

There were two hundred eighty-five (285) vehicles checked; with three (3) citations issued for no seatbelt; and one (1) citation issued for child restraint violation.
