Do you remember AstroWorld and WaterWorld in Houston? I remember sending buses of radio winners to Christmas in the Park, Fright night and other AstroWorld events. I remember broadcasting back to Lake Charles while being the first to ride Taz's Texas Tornado, After a day at AstroWorld we would simply walk to the Astrodome and take in a baseball game. AstroWorld was one of the things that made a trip to Houston so much fun. Well get ready ... the fun is returning!

It will open in the summer of 2015. The new 630-acre Grand Texas Theme Park will feature one of the 10 largest wooden roller coasters in the nation, it will feature zip lines and other amusements you don't normally find in a theme park. There will be a water park, minor league baseball stadium , amphitheater, RV park, hotels and shopping. Another cool thing about this park is that it will not be just another park built of nothing but cement and asphalt. This park will be built around the existing woods and trees on the site to give it a much more natural feel.

The amusement park will be located along highway 59 just north of the New Caney exit. It is being planned by former executives and planners from AstroWorld, DollyWorld, Six Flags and the Angry Birds Theme Park.

I look forward to many fun trips there. Maybe we'll load up a bus!
