National Tourism Week Means Lots of Fun in Lake Charles
National Tourism week begins on May 4th. The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention and Tourism Bureau has planned several fun ways for you to participate.
Tourism brought $358 to Calcasieu Parish last year. This is certainly cause for celebration. This celebration even involves fun for the kids with a special Children's Day at the Convention and Visitors Bureau this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Kids will get free pizza, punch and dessert plus they'll participate in fun activities. It's all free and our very own Gary Shannon will be there broadcasting live.
Another way to celebrate is to "Take Your Taste Buds on a Tour." Several local restaurants are offering discounts so you can sample their fare. Then you vote on the best. The competition runs through May 12th. Get the list of participating restaurants here.
There is also a competition for home chefs. Locals are ask to submit recipes for a virtual cookbook. You can submit recipes here.
What would Southwest Louisiana be without our volunteers? All volunteers are invited to the bureau (1205 North Lakeshore Drive) on Friday May 10th for a special "Volunteer Appreciation Day."
The Visitor's Bureau also appreciates all of our great Southwest Louisiana moms with free flowers for moms on Sunday, May12th.
