“Movies Under the Stars” Line-Up Announced

One of the most popular family events starts up again tomorrow night. It's Movies Under the Stars!

First in the line-up is The LEGO Batman Movie. This first movie of the series will be shown at Mallard Junction Park, which is located at 599 August Street in Lake Charles. Here's a map, in case you're not familiar with the park.

All the other "Movies Under the Stars" will be shown at Prien Lake Park.

Here are the Movies Under the Stars line-up for the rest of the month:

• Oct. 13 – Prien Lake Park: “Secratariat.” Based on the novel by William Nack, the movie is based on the true story of the 1973 Triple Crown Winner.

• Oct. 20 – Prien Lake Park: “The Secret Life of Pets.” Ever wonder what your pets are up to while you're away? Well, this fun, animated movie will answer all your questions. Speaking of pets, the Calcasieu Parish Animal Services and Adoption Center will have adoptable pets on hand for you to meet and greet.

• Oct. 27 – Prien Lake Park: “Hocus Pocus.” In this Halloween classic, three witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy), who were executed in Salem 300 years ago, vow to reappear on a future Halloween to wreak havoc on the town - and do whatever is necessary to gain immortality (Rated PG).

All the movies start at sundown or around 8 o'clock, but you'll want to get there a bit early to claim your spot. Bring what you need to be comfortable: blankets and lawn chairs, and such. You can also take your own picnic dinner, but there will be food available from onsite vendors.

Naturally, in case of inclement weather, the movies will be canceled.
