Meteorologist Zack Fradella: Severe Weather For Next 5 Days

Meteorologist Zack Fradella is reporting that SWLA will see severe weather starting today and leading into the weekend.

HEAVY RAIN & SEVERE weather potential can be expected over the next 5 days. No, it’s not going to rain all day, every day thru Sunday but you can expect periods of weather impacts. Models are estimating a widespread 3-6” over generally the entire state but in this type of pattern, isolated locations will see close to a foot when all is said and done. Unfortunately, models never do a good job of locating these storm complexes so determining when they will stall over specific locations is nearly impossible. I can say the higher impact days look to be Fri-Sun. So stay weather aware and updated to the forecast.

•  Today: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Tonight: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 75. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
• Thursday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. South wind around 10 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
• Friday: Showers and thunderstorms. High near 81. Southeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
• Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind around 5 mph.
• Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
