The McNeese Cowboys will take on the Sam Houston State Bearkats in Cowboy Stadium on Saturday evening, needing a win to clinch a share of the SLC championship and the league's automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. The pokes are 8-0 and 7-0 in the conference. Sam Houston is 6-2 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

McNeese leads the series 25-10-1 including a 13-4 home record. The two teams have split the last two meetings with Sam Houston winning 38-22 last year in Hunstville. Mcneese won 31-23 the last time they played at Cowboy Stadium in 2013. The Bearkats are currently on a six-game winning streak having beat A&M Commerce last week 38-24.

Interesting stuff: Both teams are ranked in the Top 10 this week. The Cowboys are ranked 9th, while the Bearkats come in ranked 7th. A win will give the Cowboys their 14th conference championship and the first since 2009. The Cowboys can be the first team to win eight league games in SLC history. Matt Viator is two wins away from tying Bobby Keasler with the most win in Mcneese history at 78. Sam Houston State is playing it's 100th season of football.
