Marshland Festival Pictures of Years Past
I can remember the first time I went to the Marshland Festival. I am embarrassed to even admit I had never heard of it at all before actually going. I can remember seeing a ton of people at the Lake Charles Civic Center and thinking to myself that there must be something cool going on. I had nothing to do that day, so I decided to stop on in.
The first thing that hit me was the smell of the food. I was almost positive I had died and gone to heaven. There was food everywhere, and none of it was healthy at all. I remember not being able to get my wallet out fast enough while walking by all of the vendors as I tried to get to the ticket booth. I asked the lady what was good to eat. She simply smiled at me and told me I wouldn't have room to try it all.
With me being an amateur Marshland Festival goer at the time, I grabbed a lemonade and a pistolette. I still remember the angels singing as I bit into that buttery, crawfish, greasy goodness. I inhaled two of them and got up from the table to go for round two. That's when I saw it, the thing that would forever change my life. The food item I dream about to this day: the ribeye sandwich.
There is nothing like it. Nothing can even come close to the meat concoction that is the Marshland Festival Ribeye Sandwich. As I sat down to eat the three sandwiches I had just bought, Louisiana Express took the stage and we were off to the races. Everyone was dancing and having a good ol' time, while I was doing my fat kid food dance at the table.
If you have not experienced the Marshland Festival, I highly suggest you do. From the food to the entertainment and the people, it is always a good time. It's something we all truly need in our life at this moment. Take a look at the gallery of the past entertainment the Marshland Festival has brought in and then tell me you wouldn't have a good time.
