Louisiana is quite the unique place, and that's putting it lightly.  I don't mean to insult most of the rest of our country, but it's kind of hard to tell a lot of states apart - culturally speaking.  The Sportsman's Paradise is one of a hand full that have absolutely no problem standing out from the rest of the crowd.

This will be our very first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

This year, Louisiana's "uniqueness" will be on full display for the entire country see during the highly anticipated Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  Our very first entry in the time-honored parade we all watch as we finish off our 3rd plate is dripping in our state's bayou glory!  Just look at this:

Our parade float is pretty accurate

The gator on our float is slightly bigger than the real ones found in pretty much every body of water here at approximately 60 feet.  Riding on this Louisiana murder-log is a very apt depiction of life across the state.  It features Jazz, the French Quarter in New Orleans, Spanish Moss hanging from the Cypress Trees, a Riverboat, and even beads from Mardi Gras!  It seems like the goal is to make this happen in New York City on Thanksgiving Day:

Who's going to be riding on it?

According to the report from NOLA.com, there is a stage perched atop the float, but no announcement has been made concerning who might be occupying or performing on it.  What we do know is that the float will be surrounded by walkers and performers dressed as "baby gators."

Here's the reason for Louisiana's entry in the parade

The whole parade idea was floated by Lt Governor Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Office of Tourism as a way to let the world know that Louisiana is a great place to visit!  Honestly, I think they've done a great job.  Personally, I would've added a giant Styrofoam cup with a lid and a straw taped to the top.  Maybe next year!
