Where is Hurricane Beryl going?
Currently, Hurricane Beryl is expected to make landfall in Northeast Mexico or the panhandle of Texas sometime this coming Sunday. We are still seven days out from landfall so stay tuned to on-air and on our mobile app for the latest information as the storm nears the Gulf Coast.
US National Weather Service of Lake Charles Meteorologist Donald Jones joined Mikey O today on the Afternoon Show. They discussed Hurricane Beryl, some spaghetti models showing the storm coming close to SWLA, and what the 2024 Hurricane Season has in store for us.

Major hurricane Beryl now has maximum sustained winds of 160 MPH down slightly from its high of 165 last night. Beryl is expected to continue to gradually weaken over the next couple of days as it moves into a more hostile environment over the Central and Western Caribbean (higher wind shear). The forecast track of Beryl once it emerges in the southern Gulf of Mexico continues to be very uncertain. The official track presently has Beryl making landfall across northern Mexico Sunday. Based on this track, the only impacts across southeast Texas or Southwest Louisiana would be minor coastal flooding. However, additional impacts could occur should Beryl track further North than presently indicated.
Continue to track the progress of Beryl and be very careful where you get your weather information as there is a lot of bad data out there. Remember that computer models and "spaghetti" plots are not forecasts and can change dramatically from one model to another and from one run to another. ~ Donald Jones
