
Lake Charles Man Convicted of Murder, Kidnapping, and Cruelty
(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - A Lake Charles man who was arrested in January has been sentenced for violent crimes.
Derik Kendall Rayborn was found guilty of assaulting his girlfriend, killing her son who attempted to rescue her, and killing her dog.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office (CPSO) Deputies were called on January 2, 2024 about a woman at a local hospital that had been severely beaten.
After a quick investigation, detectives concluded Rayborn was responsible for the woman's injuries. He was arrested shortly after deputies discovered him visiting the hospital in search of the woman.

Sheriff Stich Guillory told KPLC that the victim's injuries to her face were beyond recognition.
Upon arriving at the victim's residence, CPSO Deputies found a man and a dog deceased in the home. It was later confirmed that the deceased male was the victim's son, Eric Bosley (26).
Judge Lee Hoffos sentenced Rayborn for the following convictions:
- Second-degree murder: Life without parole
- Second-degree kidnapping: 40 years without parole
- Aggravated cruelty to animals: 10 years
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon: 20 years
All sentences will run consecutively, except the weapons charge, it will run concurrently.
