Louisiana’s ‘Saw Bandit’ Wanted for 9 ATM Heists Across 4 Parishes
Authorities across Southeast Louisiana are searching for Alfred Cobb,"The Saw Bandit," who’s accused of a string of ATM break-ins involving a heavy-duty saw.
WBRZ reported that Sheriff's deputies in East Baton Rouge, St. John, Livingston, and Tangipahoa parishes have been actively pursuing Cobb, 42, who allegedly broke into ATMs at Family Dollar stores, credit unions, and other businesses, leaving damaged machines and a trail of broken glass behind.
The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office recently shared surveillance footage from an October 12 incident where a man attempted to saw into an ATM outside a LaPlace store. Despite failing to access the cash inside, the suspect caused significant damage to the machine according to WBRZ.
While that attempt was unsuccessful, Cobb has previously succeeded in several heists. On August 24, surveillance video captured suspects entering a Family Dollar on Burbank Drive after hours, where they used a saw to detach the machine’s base, reportedly making off with over $3,000.
That same week, a similar incident occurred at another Family Dollar on O’Neal Lane, where the thieves shut off the power to the building, disabling the security cameras, according to East Baton Rouge Parish.
The trail of ATM burglaries continued a month later at a Family Dollar on Old Hammond Highway, "The ATM had large saw marks and dust surrounding it. Loose bills were scattered around the area," according to WBRZ. Security footage showed two people get out of a stolen black Kia Soul before breaking into the store.
Livingston Parish deputies recently connected Cobb to similar cases involving ATM break-ins at dollar stores and Cobb's cousin, Danielle Lucas, was reportedly found with multiple saw blades and admitted to driving Cobb to several of the locations he broke into.
Cobb, who previously served prison time for attempted armed robbery, remains on probation until 2025.
Authorities across Southeast Louisiana are urging the public to report any information on Cobb’s whereabouts as they continue investigating his involvement in these high-profile ATM heists. Call (225) 398-5000.
