It’s Officially Summer
Our preparations are complete, we’ve moved our plants and chairs off the patio to a safe place, the cars are gassed up, and I’m looking for headphones to drown out the streaming weather channel in the office as we wait for Cindy to arrive and do her thing.
In the meantime, summer officially arrived last night at 11:24. Now, we know that summer weather begins here about the end of March.
Growing up in Michigan, we always looked forward to summer because well, it’s cold in the winter! We looked forward to playing baseball and just goofing off outside. There were occasional trips to the beach and even camping in state parks when I was older.
A recent survey indicates that 67% of us are looking forward to summer more this year than in the past few years. The main reason given is that we’ll get a chance to hang out with family and friends. Believe it or not, there are actually people who feel guilty about taking time off from work during the summer! I’m not one of them.
With summer come more scams, too. Yard work and home improvement scams are more prevalent during the summer. Someone knocks on your door and says they’re doing work for your neighbor and offers to give you the same really low price if you can pay cash today. Make sure you ask your neighbor before you commit to anything. You might also see more vacation offers in your email. Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
So, get ready for Cindy if you haven’t yet, and Happy Summer!
