Eddie Murphy Confirms Beverly Hills Cop 4 Is In The Works!
I am so excited about this! Beverly Hills Cop is one of my all-time favorite movies. Eddie Murphy, is one of my favorite actors. The movie franchise began in 1984 with Murphy playing the role of a roughneck Detroit cop named Axel Foley. He's on a mission to avenge and solve his friend's murder and follows a lead to Beverly Hills. Needless to say, Foley's investigation exposes him to a serious culture shock as he proceeds to turn the bougie police department and city upside down.
Of course, it was a mega box office smash and became the biggest movie open that year in the nation. The movie blockbuster had two more massive wins with Beverly Hills Cop II in 1987, followed by sequel III in 1997. Ever since then, fans such as myself, have been waiting on the fourth sequel to arrive. What was the hold-up? Well, according to Murphy he always wanted to continue the film franchise. There was even talk about turning it into a TV series at one time.
However, he said of sequel IV, "They've been trying to make another Beverly Hills Cop for 15 years now. Right now, Netflix has it, and they're trying to develop a script. That's what we're supposed to be doing next. But, I'm not doing anything until the script is right."
It's been 15 years, but Murphy has confirmed the long-awaited film is finally in production! The script was written by Will Beall and the new sequel Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley, will be produced by iconic actor along with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman according to Deadline.
Interestingly enough, the franchise left Paramount in 2019. Netflix's secured a licensing deal for a fourth entry in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see the new film! Meanwhile, as filming continues for IV, a premiere date will be coming soon. Below are several movie trailers from parts I,II, and III and Beverly Hills Cop's funniest moments. Enjoy!
