From Kim Meyers of the CPSO
On November 17 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office met with officials from Starks High School in reference to a registered sex offender, John D. Savoy, 28, 4824 Fannie Verdine Rd., Starks, visiting a home in close proximity to the school. After checking his registration requirements it was learned Savoy cannot be within 1,000 feet of any school, playground, ballpark or day care center. The distance from the school to the house Savoy was visiting, and had been observed visiting there on several occasions, was less than 1,000 feet.
Savoy was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on November 19 and charged with 2 counts of unlawful presence of a sex offender.
Savoy was convicted of forcible rape in 2012. He was sentenced to 20 years with all but two years suspended, and a lifetime registration requirement.
Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $500,000.
CPSO William Wilcox is the lead investigator on this case.
