Don't go sniffing around the Gulf just yet. Scientists over in the UK have been studying their own shrimp found in the rivers and lakes. The study showed trace amounts of pesticides, illicit drugs, and cocaine in the little briny beasts (not to mention other surrounding wildlife).

The study was to see exactly how many toxins end up in their rivers, lakes, and streams, and to see how these toxins affect the creatures big and small in the wild. The results, according to the findings, were low traces, but still alarming at the amount not being filtered out as it reaches these areas.

So even though this was across the pond, don't trust a shrimp that says he just "ran out of gas" and needs five bucks to get home.
