Chip + Joanna Gaines Just Bought the Castle I Had My Eye On

Looks like I'll be planning a trip to Texas because I've got to see this.

If you know me, you know my love for Chip and Joanna Gaines runs deep. As a graduate of Baylor University and someone who lived in Waco, Texas for a few years after college, I feel like the Gaines and I are kindred spirits. Chip and Joanna are also Baylor alumni and although I don't have a single "fixer upper" bone in my body, but I still feel that we could all get along nicely.

It's also been a lot of fun to see them be a part of the gentrification of Waco. From the homes they fixed up to their massive business that inhabits the famous downtown silos. They've also purchased a few other staples in the area, including a castle that is over 100 years old.

The Cottonland Castle was built in 1890.

There's no word on what the Gaines want to do with the manor, but it's a safe bet that demo day is in the future, followed by a full-on restoration. You know it's going to be beautiful. As a college student, I would go out of my way to drive past this magnificent building telling myself that I would buy it one day (I told you the Gaines and I are kindred spirits). Of course, I would never have the money to both buy the castle and renovate it, but I wanted to own it. I wanted to make sure this treasure wasn't bulldozed.

This isn't the first time Joanna has snagged something I wanted in the Central Texas area. I also wanted to buy the silos, where Magnolia Market now sits, and the Elite Cafe, which is now Magnolia Table. Now, I'm not delusional here. I know these places would have been rubble by the time I could comfortably make a purchase, but it was fun to dream for those years I lived in Waco. Although bummed, I am glad to see these historic pieces not only get a little TLC, but also have new life breathed into them.

But if she buys the building that housed my first radio station next, THEN IT'S WAR!
