When I first stumbled across this story about a quarterly subscription for beans, I have to admit - I thought it was a little ridiculous.  Then, I started thinking about how many of my favorite, Louisiana meals need beans: Red beans and rice, chili (Louisiana-style, not Texas style obviously), baked beans, and more wouldn't exist without them.  Plus, an old-fashioned pot of beans by itself is pretty welcome on cold days in the Bayou State.

Louisiana's Camellia Bean Company Will Send the World's Best Beans to Your Door

Now, I'm thinking that the Camellia bean company in New Orleans, Louisiana might just be on to something.  In case you didn't know, Camellia isn't just the biggest bean company in Louisiana - it's the oldest in the entire country!  Now, the bean-counters at Camellia have launched a quarterly subscription service to spread this delicious Louisiana culinary cornerstone across the globe.

It's called the "Camellia Bean Krewe," and if you subscribe, you'll get Louisiana's best beans delivered straight to your doorstep every 3 months.  According to a report from My New Orleans, the service will set you back $39.95 for each box (plus shipping), and more than fine frijoles in your order.  According to the report, subscribers won't know exactly what surprises are in each box until they open it - but the company say you can expect:

• Classic and rare heirloom beans
• New products and specialty ingredients not yet available to the general public
• Lagniappe items (a little something extra, for you non-Cajuns)
• Exclusive access to recipes, special deals, and discounts
