The Beach Boys‘ are hot property. Somewhere between Brian Wilson getting healthy and the release of their latest CD.."That's Why God Made the Radio" The Beach Boys have reclaimed their status as one of the world's most popular bands. Younger fans (and there are millions of them) may not know much about all the trials and tribulations of the band, but they'll get a chance to learn about that with:  ‘The Beach Boys: Doin’ it Again’ will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on Aug. 28.

The 60-minute documentary, which has already aired on PBS stations across the country, finds Brian Wilson, Bruce Johnston, Al Jardine, David Marks(an early member who left before the band took over the world)  and Mike Love talking about their incredible history.

The interviews are interspersed with archival footage, performances from their current world tour and a behind-the-scenes look at the recording of their new hit album, ‘That’s Why God Made the Radio.’

The DVD also includes tributes to former members Dennis and Carl Wilson, who passed away in 1983 and 1998, respectively.

Of particular interest will no doubt be the  never-before-seen clips of the band recording their classic ‘Good Vibrations.’ That, in itself, is enough to recommend the film to long-time Beach Boy fans.

Some critics may not approve of the film since it doesn't get into all the feuding and fighting that has gone on over the years. But, that's not really the point of the documentary. The Beach Boys, like every rock band that ever got together, had their years of internal problems. Add to that the fact that, for the most part, they were family, and you have the potential for blow ups. The point is that they are still performing and attracting bigger audiences than ever. It's a success story not tabloid fodder.
