2019 Labor Day Holiday Garbage, Trash, and Recycling Collection

The City of Lake Charles will observe Labor Day on Monday, September 2, so there will be no garbage, trash, or recycling collected on Monday.

Monday’s garbage and trash will be picked up on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Garbage and trash normally scheduled for pick up on Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Routes for Thursday and Friday will remain as they are regularly scheduled.

All recycling locations will also close on Monday, September 2, including the Team Green recycling truck, and the Incinerator. Regular hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 3, for all services of the Department of Public Works, as well as all other city departments. Regular hours resume on Tuesday, September 3.

The City reminds residents that "containers and other items for removal shall be placed before the hour of 7 a.m. on collection day or on the evening proceeding collection day. Containers shall be removed no later than 7:00 pm on the day of collection." Also, "the owner, occupant, tenant, etc., is responsible for collecting any spillage from the container."
